What age children is the role play café for?

The role play café is aimed at children 0-6 years old along with their parents. We have an under the sea themed sensory area for babies and 6 themed areas for children 1-6 years old. We also have a book corner in our café area for children to use too!

How long is a play session?

Each play session is 1 hour and 30 minutes long.

How do I book?

You can book through the website by clicking on the book now links and by telephone. You can turn up and pay on the day but this is subject to availability for that session.

Where can I park?

There is free parking on Portland Road and surrounding roads. There is also a nearby car park on Portland Road a short walk from the role play café – Euro car parks limited, Portland Road, Hythe, Kent, CT21 6JB. The car park has 53 spaces and is free from October – April

Do you take cash and card payments?

We take all major card payment and accept cash.

Is the role play café accessible?

The role play café is accessible and is entirely on ground floor level with ramps into the café and through to the role play areas and a disabled toilet.

Do you have baby change facilities?

Yes we have a baby change unit available in the disabled/ baby change toilet.

Is there somewhere to leave a pram?

Yes we have a designated buggy/pram park within the role play café so you do not need to worry about leaving the pram anywhere during the session.

Can I bring my own food?

Only food and drink brought from The Play Parlour may be consumed with the exception of baby food and children’s water bottles. We offer a selection of hot and cold drinks, children’s snacks and sweet and savoury treats (subject to availability).

Can my child have a party here?

Yes, we offer two party packages which can be found on our website. Please telephone or email The Play Parlour to book your child’s party.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, we sell gift vouchers from The Play Parlour. Please telephone or email to purchase and arrange collection or purchase whilst visiting us.

What is your cancellation policy?

Due to The Play Parlour being a small business, we regret to inform you that we do not offer refunds. If you need to transfer your ticket to an alternative session please ensure you give at least 24 hours notice.

Are you breastfeeding friendly?

Yes – We are part of the Beside You campaign and have a dedicated area for all infant feeding including comfortable rocking chairs, a quiet book corner with bean bags and feeding supplies such as bottle warmers, breast pads and breast milk storage bags readily available.

What are your rules of play?

  • Children must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times, parent and guardians are responsible for their child’s behaviour. The Play Parlour does not assume responsibility for supervising any children.
  • Please pay attention to the signs and notices throughout the play area and make sure you know the locations of the two fire exits. One at the front of the building leading to Portland Road and one at the back of the building leading to Charlier Mews.
  • The Play Parlour maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any aggressive, offensive or abusive language or behaviour, directed at both customers and staff members. Individuals engaging in such behaviour may be asked to leave the premises.
  • Whilst our play area is designed to provide a fun and safe environment for your children, please report any incidents or accidents to a staff member immediately.
  • The Play Parlour is not liable for any loss or damage to personal belongings.
  • All property must remain on site at The Play Parlour.
  • Please report any damaged toys or equipment to a staff member for assessment. They will be repaired or replaced to ensure high standards of quality and safety are maintained.
  • Individuals observed causing any damage in The Play Parlour will be asked to leave the premises and will be expected to cover the cost of any damages incurred.
  • Please keep prams and buggies within our designated Pram Area (situated at the back of the play area, next to the toilets) at all times.
  • Outdoor shoes, food, and drink are not permitted in the play area. For hygiene reasons, please wear socks or slippers whilst at the Play Parlour.
